I received a bachelor's degree in psychology from The University of California at Berkeley in 1998 and a master of social work degree (MSW) with a clinical emphasis from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2014. I then went on to become a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW).

I spent my first year graduate school internship working at Carborro High School. There I counseled teens who were struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, gender identity issues, sexuality questions, and a variety of other issues.

My second year internship was spent at UNC's Alcohol and Substance Abuse program. There I worked with people in all stages of addiction and recovery, including those with dual diagnosis and multiple addictions.

After graduating from UNC, I was hired by Duke to work as a therapist at Duke University Medical Center. I spent 4 years providing both individual and group therapy to Duke patients.

Between earning my bachelor's and masters degrees, I became a certified doula and childbirth educator and counseled women with histories of trauma to help them prepare for a safe, peaceful birthing experience.

I also received extensive training at a domestic violence and sexual assault agency in Raleigh and went on to help women in crisis at the agency as well as lead groups for children and parents who had been effected by domestic violence.

I have worked at a residential facility that served as an incarceration alternative for women with young children to keep families united.

In 2017 I decided to start a private practice, which I have been loving ever since.
